HOW TO ABSORB THE SCRIPTURES
JOHN BELT

Hello Friends,

Did you know that God is into our meditation? There have been so many bad examples of meditation in the world. And, as usual, the devil always takes something that's good, something that God created for our benefit, and twists it – tries to make it New Age or something like that. Mediation is in the Bible.

If you read Psalm 1, it says, "But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree that's planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper" (verses 2-3). That is called biblical meditation.

You can see it in the New Testament too, in Philippians 4:8, where Paul says, "Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honorable, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things."

Meditation is something you will need to do with the Word of God, which the book of Hebrews says is "...quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit..." (Hebrews 4:12).

In our meditation, God is showing us the difference between that which is our flesh or soul, and that which is of the Spirit or of our spirit, and that which is of the devil. God wants us to have discernment, and it comes through true biblical meditation. So meditate on the Word of God and realize that it's a blessing and a God-given gift.

Meditation is a sure way to absorb the Scriptures into your heart and move into the flow of God's presence! Use these practical steps:

1. Turn on some instrumental soaking music.
2. Ask God for ONE WORD to focus on.
3. Find a scripture that speaks about that word.
4. Rehearse the scripture.
5. Take notes on what God is speaking to you about it.
