耶利米書 1:8 『你不要懼怕他們，因為我與你同在，要拯救你。這是耶和華說的。』
耶利米書1:17『不要因他們驚惶，免得我使你在他們面前驚惶。』
* 請禱告以色列在敵人面前不懼怕，信靠主的拯救。
身為信徒的我們，也必須行在謙卑的信心中，深知神為我們爭戰，我們不必在敵人面前懼怕。

在耶利米書第二章，神對以色列的罪孽、惡行和偶像崇拜提出充分證據，祂在22節接著說：『你雖用鹼、多用肥皂洗濯，你罪孽的痕跡仍然在我面前顯出。這是主耶和華說的。』到了四章1-2節，神清楚說，以色列若回來歸向主，若除掉可憎的偶像，『你就不被遷移。』神的祝福與神的約是永恆不變的，以色列無法將自己『洗淨』，除非悔改。然後神不再紀念一切，只單單紀念祂的應許！
請禱告：以色列再次盼望她的神，從偶像崇拜中回轉歸向神。

This week’s Torah Portion:
From ancient times there has been a weekly portion from the five books of Moses (The Torah) and from the Prophets (Haftarah-final reading) read on the Sabbath in synagogues around the world. This portion is given a Hebrew name taken from the opening words of the passage. An illustration of this practice appears to have been recorded in Luke 4:16 where Yeshua (Jesus) arrived in the synagogue in Nazareth and was asked to read the Haftarah portion (Isaiah 61) from the Prophets. We have found that in perusing these weekly readings, not only are we provided opportunity to identify in the context of God’s Word with millions of Jewish people around the world, but very often the Holy Spirit will illumine specific passages pertinent that week in our intercession for the Land and people of Israel. While it is not within the scope of this Prayer Update to supply a “commentary” on these readings, we will here and there draw attention to certain points which may prove helpful in informing our intercession. [Note: All text citations are those for more-common English translations of the Scriptures.]
The reading for 4-10 July is a double reading.

Numbers 30-32. In reading this portion, I am struck by the panorama of God’s Word.
Chapter 30 deals with vows and obedience; Chapter 31 deals with warfare against the Midianites; and Chapter 32 concerns inheritance.
What is striking is that to the Lord, each of these is not only important but inter-related.
Obedience, warfare and inheritance cannot be compartmentalized in our lives. They are all part of one another.
Numbers 31:6. “Then Moses sent them to the war, one thousand from each tribe; he sent them to war with Phinehas the son of Eleazar the priest, with holy articles and the signal trumpets in his hand.”
Not only did the armies war with weapons…they also warred with worship (holy articles) and with sound (signal trumpets).
Godfrey Birtill wrote a song that we sing in the worship room when appropriate. It is called “I’m Looking for a Fighting People”. The lyrics are a clear expression of Numbers 31:6 and our stand as worship warriors in these days:
I’m looking for a fighting people
I’m looking for a man who’ll stand
I’m looking for a woman with a war cry
For a child with a sword in his hands.
Who will pursue!
Who will overtake!
Who will recover all!
I’m looking for a praising people
I’m looking for a wrestling man
I’m looking for a woman with birth pangs
For a child with a sling in his hands.
I’m looking for a marching people
I’m looking for a man to command
I’m looking for a woman to warrior
For a child who will lead in this land.

Numbers 31:15-16
Moses expressed his anger at the warriors for keeping the Midianite women alive who had been instruments of Baal against the children of Israel. In our warfare we must be thorough and complete, aware that any vestiges from the enemy camp will cause a weakness in our wall in the future.
Jeremiah 1:8
“Do not be afraid of their faces, for I am with you to deliver you,” says the Lord.
Jeremiah 1:17 “Do not be dismayed before their faces, lest I dismay you before them.”
*Please pray that Israel not fear the face of their enemies but trust the deliverance of the Lord.
We too as believers, must walk in humble confidence knowing that God fights for us and that we are not to fear the face of the enemy.
Haftorah #2
Jeremiah 2:4-28 and 4:12
In the second chapter of Jeremiah God presents his well founded case against Israel citing her idolatry, her wickedness, her sin. He then says in Chapter 2, verse 22. “For though you wash yourself with lye, and use much soap, Yet your iniquity is marked before me says the Lord God.” Then in chapter 4:1-2, God clearly says, that if Israel returns to the Lord and if she puts away her abominations. “Then you shall not be moved.” God’s blessing and covenant is eternal. Israel cannot ‘wash’ herself clean except by repentance. Then, all is forgotten except the promise of God!
Please pray: that Israel hope again in her God and turn her back on idolatry.
