I’M NOT DOING IT LIKE THAT ANY LONGER

“The manna stopped…” (Joshua 5:12)

It’s so important, right now, that we don’t make decisions and assumptions based on our experience of what worked in the past and what God previously blessed.
God never changes.
But in this new season, God is relating to us, resourcing us, and directing us in new ways.
He’s not doing things the way we are used to or have come to expect.
Manna is off the menu.
For forty years, every day, manna had been how God has fed His people.
They have never tasted much else except manna. It was all they knew.
However, as they enter the Promised Land “the manna stopped.”
Manna wasn’t bad. It was God’s provision and nourishment in a previous season.
But, in this new place, He took it off the menu. No more manna. Ever again.
Similarly, God is expressing His blessing, care, and provision for you in a new way.
Things that were positive and productive in the past may be unhelpful, a distraction, or even a hindrance.
A person, place, or ministry that brought life and growth five years ago might not bring blessing or benefit now.
What sustained you in the last season will not be sufficient for where you are today.
It might be good. It was God’s gift in your history. But it’s not aligned with your destiny.
At the same time, the Father is making new resources and relationships available.

“The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land…” (v. 12)

Manna was their desert diet. It was functional food for the wilderness years.
But now, in the Promised Land, there is milk and honey, meat and fruit.
God wants to upgrade their appetites. He is moving them from ‘just enough’ to abundance.
He is removing inferior options because so much more is now available.
In this major transition you have been walking through in the last few years, not only have things around you changed – you have changed.
For many, your spiritual tastebuds have changed.
Your appetite for God has altered.
What used to feed you doesn’t satisfy you any longer.
The way you connect and relate to Him has shifted.
You’re in a familiar place that was once comfortable and nourished you - but now you’re really struggling.

I believe the LORD would say:

“I’m not doing it that way any longer. I know it’s what you’re used to. I know it’s what you’re comfortable with. I know it’s how you like it. But I’m not doing it that way any longer.
The way I dealt with you in the the last season is not how I’m going to deal with you in this new place.
I am the same God. But my methods and ways have changed.
The source is the same. Everything comes from me. But the supply has changed.”

Don’t hold onto manna when there’s milk and honey flowing. Don’t settle for wilderness living, when the Promised Land lies before you.

If you try to ‘cut and paste’ your past into your present, it will be empty, lifeless, and unfruitful. What satisfied you will now feel stale. The grace has lifted.
This is not a downgrade, it’s an upgrade.
There is so much more available than you have ever known, seen, or experienced.

Manna is off the menu. It was good for a season. But it’s passed it’s expiration date.

I’m not doing it like that any longer.
