STAND CLEAN IN THE HOLY PLACE
REBECCA FRIEDLANDER
2022.3.22

Recently I've been thinking about Psalm 24:

"Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? Or who may stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who has not lifted up his soul to an idol..." (Psalm 24:3-4)

This psalm ties together the idea of standing in holy places with the need for a clean heart and hands. I love how the Hebrew priests intentionally modeled this in the temple. After helping the people offer sacrifices in the outer court, they deliberately stepped aside and washed their hands and feet in a bronze basin called "the laver." All of the sweat and dust was washed away in the flow of fresh water. Only after washing were they free to enter the Holy Place, a sacred space of intimate worship.

Sometimes the Holy Spirit draws us into that place of cleansing, purifying our hearts at a new level, making us aware of things we need to let go of or change. When that happens, we can be sure that new levels of worship are coming. As we embrace the cleansing and healing journey, there's so much more ahead!

Prayer: Father, please cleanse my heart in deeper ways so I can step into holy places with you.
